Power and grid references

Electricity and emissions data for describing energy-system context with clear boundaries.

Product context

DownGust and PoleVolt retain distinct roles within the estate's weather and power work. Atmospheric conditions and terrain provide context for energy concepts, while electrical infrastructure and grid data describe different constraints. These public references connect the existing product surface to the agencies' source material without changing its native models or claiming a validated generation result.

Using these references

EIA electricity datasets describe reported generation and related sector information. EPA eGRID provides emissions and generation attributes for defined reporting periods and geographic groupings. These are useful contextual references, but average grid factors are not automatically the marginal emissions displaced by a proposed device. Retain the reporting year, region, units and calculation boundary. Distinguish a product's potential application from interconnection requirements, commercial tariffs or a site-specific energy and financial assessment.

Evidence boundaries

Regional wind or electricity data does not establish site-specific output, structural safety, grid interconnection approval or financial return. Keep forecast uncertainty and measurement scale visible when interpreting an energy concept.
